Prospect Triangle, MKE.

When I first landed in Milwaukee, a city I had never been to, on a one-way plane ticket to visit someone I had never met, the first memory I made was at this park.

A nearly nameless, not that notable, park called Prospect Triangle, on the east side, smack dab between the Starbucks where I got a dark roast, and Jaci’s Oakland Ave apartment.

(🎵 I guess you could say it was a black coffee morning on the east side 😉)

Well, I went back to that park this week, 3 years and 3 months later, this time with a coffee from @stonecreekcoffee (bc I know better now) and thought about that day, how much has changed, and how much has stayed the same.

That day, it was spring: damp and chilly-but-sunny,
and I was in the middle of the middle of hell.
I was also on the cusp of the most beautiful life ever.
Both can be true.

I sat in wet the grass and hopped on a Zoom meeting in the PST time zone and that felt normal because it was the pandemic and no one really cared where you joined Zoom meetings from.

I was taking this huge risk but I wasn’t afraid bevause I knew deep down that ✨nothing safe is worth the drive✨

When I look back on that day I like being reminded that the part of me that took that risk is still in me.
That’s the exact kind of energy I am needing right now, and it’s a comforting reminder to know that I can look inward, and not outward, for the strength to keep my eyes locked ahead.

Maybe trusting the journey ahead is as much about trusting the past behind you,
trusting that the decisions that you made then, got you to right now.

And well,
I’m channeling that. 👑
