Have to’s and want to’s
get in the habit of asking yourself
does this support the life I’m trying to create?
✌️
Story timeeeee.
In grad school we'd start class by going around the circle and checking in with one another. We'd share feels, tell stories, say nothing, say everything.
One day Leotie shared that she was having a week where her "have-to's" were really outweighing her "want-to's".
That stuck with me.
I'm the kind of person that when my have-to's start to outweigh my want-to's I can't breathe. My body physically is like YOU NEED A RUN. You need air. You need to laugh. You need a new hobby.
Now, the thing that no one really tells you about being an adult is that most days, there are a LOT of have-to's. But amidst the bills and errands and work and taxes and cleaning I think there is ALWAYS time for some want-to's. You just have to remember that you're worth it.
This week is probably going to feel like a lot. It's the last week before a major election. November is coming. The holidays are all the suddenly around the corner.
Add some want-to's to your week.
To your days.
Tiny ones.
Big ones.
Flowers in mason jars. A long walk. A phone call. A new notebook (even if you have 19 at home). Tell a joke. Dance.
7 (8?) years ago that was and I still think of that comment: have-to's outweighing want-to's.
Hugssss. xx
