Thoughts on Friendship

Making friends as an adult is hard. I’ve moved around A LOT so I’m used to having to leave people and find new people.
⠀⠀
And that’s why keeping in touch with people is so important to me too, even across great distances. (#mandimail)
⠀⠀
I’m pretty social, but also can be introverted. I’m in extroverted introvert. (anyone else?)

I am super passionate about the fact that strong relationships can be built digitally. I believe that digital spaces can be a space for GOOD. I believe that we can form close and deep friendship with people we’ve never “met”.
⠀⠀
But I also want to hug people, sit on the couch with people, share coffee and stories face to face…
^^
That part, is harder to find and maintain when everyone is busy, tired, stressed…
⠀⠀
It’s also hard to find when you’re new to a place, when you’ve moved around, when friendships change and evolve…

A big vision that I have for the Sweaty Tears of Joy community (join our Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/sweatytearsofjoy/) is that it not only brings people together digitally but physically as well.
⠀⠀
I hope that you consider meeting up in your cities. I hope that you’re brave and attend something that you wouldn’t normally attend (I know, it’s always easier to stay home but aren’t you usually glad you went when you go somewhere?)
⠀⠀
We need each other 💕
⠀⠀
A big goal of mine for 2020 is to stop saying “we should have coffee” and instead say “how about coffee next Tuesday?”.
⠀⠀
Make plans.
Keep plans.
Share space (physically!) more often (even when it’s easier to stay home).
⠀⠀
Thanks, as always, for reading and for being here.
