My Fit Seven

My Fit Seven was born from #FitForSevens (my 2019 challenge to myself to try a different kind of fitness each week of the year). I realized that as I was running from one thing to another, I needed certain items and products to keep me functioning and presentable.

I work at Fresno State, in a role that requires me to look put-together and professional 99.9% of the time. (There are some causal Fridays where I don’t have any meetings where I can pull of jeans and t-shirt but otherwise, I try to look somewhat professional most days). Something that I feel like women don’t talk about enough, is the challenge that working out adds to their daily routine from a beauty perspective.

I mean, raise your hand if you’ve ever skipped the gym becuase your hair looked good and you knew you could get another day out of it if you didn’t have to put it in a ponytail and ruin it with sweat!? **every woman raises her hand

Raise your hand if you’ve ever thought that riding your bike to work would be super cool and great for the environment and your health BUT you don’t know how to navigate the whole ‘now I’m sweaty but I have to go to work but I don’t want to shower’ situation’

These are real barriers that keep real women from putting themselves first.

The 7 products below have helped me overcome these barriers and feel more comfortable (and confident) working fitness into my life.

  1. DIY Dry Shampoo - whether you make your own (which I HIGHLY recommend) or buy some dry shampoo from Walgreens, it’s your BFF when it comes to making your hair last. I am obsessed with this DIY recipe but would love to hear your suggestions as welll for your favorite dry shampoo.

  2. Matte Powder - this Beautycounter Mattifying Power is not only safe to use, but it is a miracle maker. If I’m a bit sweaty after a workout (like after riding my bike to work) this powder sets my makeup and keeps the oils at bay. I can’t get enough of it. (It also doubles as a dry shampoo in a pinch). Although it looks white, it goes on 100% clear and transparent. It’s the perfect makeup ‘setter’.

  3. Nathan Shower Wipes - these wipes make me feel fresher than a regular shower, and I’m not even kidding. I discovered them after order a few running items from Nathan years ago and I’ve never ever found better shower wipes. The scent is subtle but refreshing and they are perfect for swiping over your body after a workout.

  4. Dew Skin foundation - I am in love with any tinted moisturizer than also has SPF but this version is the best of the best, hands down.

  5. Mascara is my can’t live without beauty product. I feel like i look asleep when I don’t have mascara on. #girlsgottahaveit

  6. Terra Lip Sheer - this color appears to be stupid boring, but it’s STUPID AMAZING. I feel like every one needs a Terra lip sheer. I have one by my bed and one in every single purse. It’s just enough coverage and moisturizer. Lip Sheer is what broken my addiction to chapstick. DYK that the average women ingests 7 pounds of lipstick in her lifetime? Choose one thats safe.

  7. Toms Lavendar Natural Deodorant - I struggled for a long time to find a natural deodorant than I love and I finally found one. I realized that my issue was that I kept borrowing my husbands deodorant which was making the switch to something safer reset every time I borrowed his. When you make the switch to a natural deodorant, be disciplined and don’t slip up. It takes your body a few weeks to adjust to a new deodorant.

I totally want to hear if you work any of these products into your routines and if you find them helpful. Use #myfitseven to share!
