Acclimation Phase: Week 3
Now that I am back in town post-Thanksgiving I feel like training is really underway. Katie and I connected via text on Sunday night about our plans for the week so that we could coordinate as many workouts together as possible.
In burpee-filled WOD this week, Coach Katie made one tweak to my burpee that transformed my entire burpee. I used to feel like my burpees were happening in slow motion. Turns out, I was expending extra energy jumping my feet up in a narrow position, only to jump them wide again. Working out at a gym with such intentional and focused coaching is something that I am so grateful for, especially during this crazy year of training. The coaches at Uncaged really go the extra mile.
KATIE AND I SWAM (swum? 🤣) together this week at GB3 which was fun. We navigated complex issues such as pool etiquette and lane sharing. If you’re a swimmer, we’d love some advice in this area. (ex: is it okay to ask someone if you can share a lane with them if the lanes are all full? Or do you just wait?)
I did most of my biking inside and continued to get my runs in. One run, I accidentally ran in my Crossfit shoes which was annoying.
Other updates:
Colin got me a bike helmet.
I still miss cheese but I’m getting more creative with my plant-based cooking.
Getting in and out of a wet one piece swimsuit is just as difficult as I remember it being as a child.
You can keep track of my training here, if you’re curious. bit.ly/ironmanuncaged
